DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES

Whatever the issue you are experiencing with your vehicle, we are here to help. Our team will arrange a time to suit you and promptly get to bottom of the problem. Using an automotive diagnostic specialist is often far more cost effective than going to a traditional garage or franchised dealer. With our wealth of experience, we have more often than not seen the same fault before, meaning we can be quicker and know what the remedy will be. We invest heavily in up to the minute equipment for diagnostics, immobilisers and module programming. Independent garages in most cases will limit their spend on expensive diagnostic tools as they have much higher overheads, this means it may take longer to diagnose your vehicle, costing more in labour and you without your vehicle.
DIAGNOSTICS
Modern vehicles are essentially mobile computers and require, not only mechanical, but electrical maintenance too. Although your vehicle may be giving you a visual warning on the dashboard, sadly it won’t just tell you what’s wrong. In many cases the OBD (Onboard Diagnostic) code will give only basic information and not often the route cause of the issue. With today's MOT Test requirements, warning lights illuminated will result in the vehicle failing, potentially leaving you without transport. Equally likely is a complete absence of any warning, for example, parking your vehicle on a Sunday and finding it won’t start on Monday morning! All of these examples we can help with, contact us to find out more.
IMMOBILISER FAULTS
The security systems of modern vehicles are being developed and evolving all the time. They rely on smooth and consistent communication between multiple modules, all of which need to agree the vehicle is authorised to be started. When the communication line is broken, your vehicle will simply deny inside access and / or won’t start. This sort of issue is becoming more and more common as vehicles get older and components that make up part of the immobilser system start to fail. Without the appropriate equipment this can be almost impossible to diagnose. Dorset Auto Diagnostics has the ability to resolve this and even supply replacement keys and modules to get you moving again.
WIRING ISSUES
As vehicles have become more advanced, it stands to reason that they will require more wiring to link it all together. Wiring harnesses can contain over 100 wires all squeezed into tight spaces and around sharp objects. It's little wonder that wiring faults make up a significant percentage of the faults we see. Wiring faults are also very difficult to find and require specialist equipment in order to trace the fault in a reasonable time. Wiring and module faults are also the number one cause of battery drains. If your vehicle is struggling to start or you are having to charge the battery regularly, you almost certainly will have a wiring or component fault. Restore your faith in your vehicle by giving us a call to remedy this for you.
